W00t was made word of the year by Merriam-Webster Dictionary’s website. Most of the words are geeky on the voting list. Facebook coming in at number is no surprise since it is a vote over the internet. Last year, Google came in second place, followed by words such as war, terrorism, and corruption. These words often seem to reflect events that were current to the year in which they happened. In 2005 the words were Hurricane related after Katrina struck the New Orleans area. Somehow, in 2003, the word “slog” meaning to hit hard or beat was voted in at number 6. What a world we live in.
Anyways, this is certainly a victory and a display of strength of the Geek community. Somehow, at times like this I can only think of StarCraft. NEEEED MOOORE PYLOONNNSSS
